Day 5

Pre-Algebra: Chapter 1-4
Thursday we have our first quiz and we can use our notes and a calculator. Today we covered the commutative and associative and identity properties. Commutative can be thought of as flip-flopping terms for addition and multiplication. An example is 5 + 4 = 4 + 5 or 3 * 6 = 6 * 3
Associative can be thought of as re-grouping terms in paranthesis to make life easier. An example is 4 + (5 + 6) = (4 + 5) + 6.
The identity property of addition is Zero and the identity property of multiplication is 1.

Algebra: Chapter 1-4
We discussed the use of the Associative property by re-grouping terms in paranthesis. We also used both commutative and associative properties together to help simplify expressions for evaluation.
We looked for patterns in expressions again to help speed up our mental math computation speed.
