Rational Numbers

Whole Numbers: This set includes 0, 1, 2, 3, …. It also includes any number that can be written as a whole number, such as 5/5 or 9/1.

Integers: This set includes … -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, … All whole numbers are included in the set of integers.

Rational Numbers: Any number that can be expressed in the form of a/b, where ‘a’ and ‘b’ are integers. It is called a rational number.

A fraction is converted into a decimal by dividing the denominator INTO the numerator. A repeating decimal is 2/3 or 0.66666666. It is written as 0.6 with a bar over the 6!

Algebra: Chapter 7 Slope-Intercept Review

Skills Practice 20 worksheet was done in class. Remember, to solve using the slope-intercept formula for the slope, then using one of the ordered pairs given (x, y) for the y-intercept.

Given the slope m, and the y-intercept b, we can find the solution to the equation.

An equation perpendicular to the given one will have to have its slope be the negative reciprocal for the product to be -1. A new equation that has to be parallel to the given one, must have its slope be exactly the same!
