Day 9

Pre-Algebra: Chapter 1-8
We finished our discussion about the x and y axes, plotting (x, y)coordinates, remember x is ALWAYS first and the four quadrants: I (x and y coordinates are positive), II (x is negative and y is positive), III (both x and y are negative) and IV (x is positive and y is negative).
We moved onto the inverse operations. The inverse of addition is subtraction, the inverse of subtraction is addition, the inverse of multiplication is division and the inverse of division is multiplication. We can use these inverses to help figure out simple equations by performing the opposite or inverse to the equation.

Algebra: Chapter 1-7
We had our first notebook check today. Notes assist us during the test or quiz to remember the concepts we used in our problem solving. Homework IS NOT allowed as part of the notes!
Equations must have = signs and equations can be true, false or open. Open equations must contain variables. We learned about the replacement set (numbers that you can choose from to find a solution), a solution and the solution set (a collection of all VALID solutions).
2 equations are equivalent if one can be obtained from the other by a sequence of adding, subtracting, multiplying or dividing both sides of one equation to arrive at the other.
