Pre-Algebra: Chapter 1-6
Notebook check on Friday!
Our first quiz was today and it covered Chapter 1, Lessons 1 through 3. We need practice in order of operations, PEMDAS. Students forgot what order to do things in.
We talked about equations, expressions and variables. The difference between equations and expressions are that equations contain an = sign.
Some students are NOT turning in their homework, and that will significantly affect your grade!
Algebra: Chapter 1-5
We slowed down lesson 5 because of our first quiz on Wedneday. Our homework for lesson 5 is due on Friday and the notebook check is Monday instead.
This was a major lesson in that it combined the use of the distributive property, factoring and combining like terms all in one package. REMEMBER, to add like terms, the variables in each term must be the same AS WELL AS the exponent of each variable. The number in front of the variable is the “coefficient” and a term with just a number is called a “constant”. We will get better and faster with practice and it is easier in the beginning of factoring to write out the common terms.
