Day 49

Pre-Algebra: Chapter 4 Review

Today we took the practice test for Chapter 4. The homework assignment is to FIX those problems that students missed. This will be an excellent review for tomorrow’s test!

Algebra: Chapter 7-7

Fitting data to a line and finding a linear solution

Plot points from the data on graph paper. Estimate the best fit for the data and draw a line connecting 2 points that contain data. This line with endpoints is the line that you will use to find the linear equation.

From the 2 points:

  1. Find the slope, m (y2-y1/x2-x1)
  2. Choose one of the 2 points to represent the solution (x, y) to the equation.
  3. Use the slope, m and the one (x, y) point in the slope-intercept formula [ y = mx + b ] and solve for b, the y-intercept.
  4. Once you have b, the y-intercept and the slope, plug those into the generic slope intercept formula and you are done!
