Day 88

Pre-Algebra: Chapter 7-5

Solving equations with variables on each side.

In this lesson, we have variables on both sides of the equation and have to decide where to put the variables and where to put the constants. It is usually easier to focus on the side where the value (the coefficient) of the variable is the largest. We can then add or subtract the variable on the other side to make it add up to zero. Since this is a balance bea, make sure to do the same thing to the other side. Here is a good link from PurpleMath with examples!

Algebra: Chapter 5-7

Addition of Polynomials

Remember, its pretty simple, just make sure that the terms in our polynomials have the same variables and SAME exponents to add or subtract. The next lesson is exactly the same.

We can add or subtract ploynomials either horizontally or vertically. Vertically organized terms go from highest order to lowest. It is sometimes easier to place 0’s in place of terms that don’t exist. See these examples for more tips.
