Day 63

Pre-Algebra: Chapter 6-1

Fractions, Decimals and Percents

Remember the acronym “D2P”! To go from decimals to percentages, we move the decimal point 2 places to the right AND to convert a percentage to a decimal, we move the decimal point to the left 2 places. Just use D2P and follow the directions!

To convert a decimal to a fraction, we just remember that a decimal can be expressed as a numerator/denominator, where the numerator is the digits (whole) part of the decimal and the denominator is made up of 1 and a number of zeroes (0) that take the place of the digits in the numerator. For example, 0.624 becomes = 624/1000. The denominator has 3 zeroes, one for each of the 3 digits, 624!
