Day 87 and 88 (Math 8)

Chapter 7-6 and 7-8, p 351 and 358

Using the Metric System (Thursday)

King Henry Died Monday Drinking Chocolate Milk! The first letter of this memory mind-bender stands for:

  • Kilo-
  • Hecto-
  • Deka-
  • Meter, Liter or Gram
  • Deci-
  • Centi-
  • Milli-

The metric system is all based on 10, so conversions are easy. By sliding the decimal point to the left or right, we can easily convert from one unit to another. This system works for length (METERS), volume (LITERS) and mass (GRAMS).

To move from one measurement to another, you just move the decimal point to the left or to the right. In our table above, instead, from top to bottom or bottom to top.

Solving Multi-step Inequalities (Wednesday)

Inequalities we solve just like we do equalities. There is ONLY ONE DIFFERENCE. IF each side of an inequality is MULTIPLIED OR DIVIDED BY A NEGATIVE NUMBER, the SIGN of the inequality MUST BE REVERSED!
