Adding Integers
The easiest way to remember things:
adding 2 positive numbers = a positive number
adding 2 negative numbers = a negative number
adding a positive and negative number, just subtract the numbers and use the SIGN of the larger number. So -5 + 4 = 5 – 4 and using the sign of the larger number, the answer is 1 with a negative sign or -1.

Distributive property for subtraction
The distributive property of subtraction is just like the property for addition. a(b – c) = ab – ac or ab – ac = a(b – c)
